The VPPPA’s Safety+, An Integrated Safety & Health Management System Symposium in New Orleans, formerly known as the 33rd Annual National VPPPA Safety & Health Conference, brings together safety and health experts from more than 400 different industries.
It offers attendees an opportunity to expand their understanding of workplace safety and acquire the tools applicable to their work site. The symposium also aims to provide attendees with a chance to build professional relationships and attend more than 100 featured workshops and speaking sessions on a variety of topics.
Four of SafeStart’s best speakers will be providing audiences with engaging education and a new approach to safety.
Jack Jackson, SafeStart senior safety consultant, will present 10 Feet Tall and Bullet Proof on August 29 at 4 p.m.. Jack will address the question of how to take us from thinking we are “safe enough” to creating a healthier and enhanced safety culture. He will concentrate on stimulating critical thinking and discussing the transition that employees must make from thinking they are bulletproof to learning from their mistakes.
Danny Smith, SafeStart implementation specialist and safety speaker, will address The Luck Factor—Mistakes That (Sometimes) Get Us Hurt on August 30 at 8:00 a.m. It’s a great session to attend, as it will discuss the fact that even the safest among us make mistakes, which can sometimes lead to serious injuries. Danny will talk about how improving personal skills can lead to eliminating many of these mistakes, making people safer and less reliant on luck.
Larry Wilson, Vice President and author of SafeStart, will present Unlocking the Code to Human Error on August 30 at 1 p.m. Larry will discuss how human error plays a significant part in the majority of injuries. He will also address the main human factors responsible for those errors. To find out more, check out his article on the subject here.
Tim Page-Bottorff, SafeStart senior safety consultant, will present Leapfrogging from Compliance to Culture on August 31 at 8:30 a.m. He will address the fact that compliance alone is not enough to prevent injuries and company decision-makers need to move to a self-compliant culture of safety that is grown from within.
The Symposium will be held from August 29 to September 1 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event will host thousands of EHS professionals, numerous activities (workshops, exhibits, contests and networking opportunities) and inspirational lessons provided by the best speakers and safety experts like Jack, Larry, Danny and Tim, who always deliver their sessions with enthusiasm, engagement and humor.
SafeStart will also be participating in the exposition, so come over and say hello at booth #801!
