SafeStart Human Factors Conference 2019

SafeStart announced today that online registration is open for the SafeStart Human Factors Conference—the first-ever conference designed by and for those who want to benchmark data, share best practices and discover innovations and new research in human factors. The conference will be held on November 5 and 6, 2019, at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, TN.

Inspiring speakers

The event has a number of fantastic sessions on the agenda and an inspiring keynote speaker—Michael Abrashoff, a former navy commander and a bestselling author. His outstanding leadership turned one of the worst-performing navy ships and crews in the Pacific Fleet—plagued with awful safety performance, low morale, high turnover, and abysmal performance evaluations—into the best in the fleet using the same crew in just one year.

Abrashoff’s dedication proved that leadership matters in safety and performance, and that culture can inspire a huge change in any workplace. The insights offered in his keynote and throughout the SafeStart Human Factors Conference are invaluable and can help leaders learn how they may achieve the same results and success in their organizations.

We also ensured that Tim Page-Bottorff (CSP, CET) will be speaking at the event. He’s a well-known figure in the EHS industry, received the coveted ASSP Safety Professional of the Year and most recently the NSC Distinguished Service to Safety Award. Tim is an inspirational certified safety professional with over 20 years of occupational health, safety and environmental experience and he’s most known for making safety training captivating through humor.

SafeStart Author Larry Wilson will also kick-off the conference with an opening address. For anyone who has seen Larry speak, you’ve witnessed his masterful delivery. For those of you who haven’t, you’re in for a treat. He uses entertaining anecdotes and personal stories that come from over 25 years of experience. This makes Larry not only informative but also one of the most entertaining presenters in this field.

What to expect

The conference is a perfect venue for steering committees, leaders, trainers and safety staff to learn about human factors from thought leaders and subject matter experts. There will be two days of keynotes and concurrent learning sessions. Attendees will have a chance to participate in sessions covering topics including:

  • roadblocks to human performance;
  • the missing link of risk assessment;
  • steering committee best practices;
  • sustaining safety performance over time;
  • overcoming challenges; and
  • best practices.

This is a unique opportunity to share best practices and learn to address your most common safety challenges by speaking to people who faced similar obstacles and hearing client success stories. A safety trainer bootcamp will also be available to those interested in improving their teaching skills.

What’s more, the SafeStart Human Factors Conference has the honor of hosting a performance by Lewis Brice, one of Rolling Stone Country’s “New Country Artists You Need to Know” and Billboard’s “Country Artists to Watch 2018.” His performances are rich in high-energy stories and sounds that inspire audiences to move, so don’t miss this opportunity to see him during the networking and cocktail hour on November 5!

The full agenda and more detailed information will be published as soon as it becomes available. Register now so you don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event.
