Lloyd Bloomfield, the head of the Career and Technology Studies at Harry Ainlay High School in Edmonton, Alberta and a SafeStart certified trainer, has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award.
The award is Alberta’s highest honor for educators and is given to twenty teachers selected from a list of several thousand nominees after a rigorous selection process.
Lloyd has been a SafeStart champion for a number of years. Not only has Lloyd completed the certification process to deliver SafeStart, but he’s also worked hard to advocate for safety issues at his school, as a leader in his community and in his role as President of the CTS Council.
He also serves on the Teacher Development and Practice Advisory Committee, which advises the government on how to improve education in Alberta.
Educators play a crucial role in teaching students about the importance of safety and giving them the tools they need to avoid injuries later in life—and in Lloyd’s case, to keep them safe in the classroom too.
The benefits of SafeStart apply to students in a range of educational settings, from the culinary arts to the shop room. That’s why we’re so pleased that Lloyd has effectively conveyed SafeStart principles—like keeping eyes and mind on task—to his students.
Everyone here at SafeStart would like to recognize Lloyd for his work ethic, leadership, and drive to help all his students succeed. Congratulations on receiving this much-deserved honor, Lloyd!
