Today’s Problems Addressed at Safety First Symposium

Don Wilson speaking about 24/7 safety

In May, the sixth annual Cape Breton Symposium on workplace health and safety will welcome attendees from different sectors discussing and learning about new provincial safety regulations and best practices. The event offers a trade show, breakout sessions, networking opportunities and engaging speakers, including SafeStart’s Chief Client Officer—and one of their best speakers—Don Wilson.

On May 15 at 12:45 p.m, in his presentation Leadership for Today’s Problems, Don will address the fact that traditional control strategies have had little positive effect in improving off-the-job injuries and a new approach is required to protect employees 24/7. Don will explain the importance of off-the-job safety and provide advice on how leaders can make people safer no matter where they are.

The Safety First Symposium is a collaboration between the Cape Breton Partnership, Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education. The symposium is a chance for attendees from Nova Scotia to learn about best practices, hear some great speakers, attend the trade show and build lasting relationships.
