SafeStart is attending the 2014 Tennessee Safety and Health Congress and one of our consultants will be giving two fantastic talks at the four-day conference.

Gary A. Higbee’s first session is Beyond Compliance: Addressing the Human Factor (Monday, July 21 at 2:00 pm).

Many experts believe human error is responsible for over 90% of all injuries. Gary will introduce you to key factors in dealing with human error and highlight issues for safety systems that focus only on compliance. This session touches on topics that Gary covers in more detail with Larry Wilson in their book Inside Out, available for purchase as a paperback or as an e-book for Kindle and Kobo.

A little later that day, Gary will be presenting another session on Climate vs. Culture. (Monday, July 21 at 3:30 pm).

In this session, you will learn how to establish a safety climate that will be the basis for a positive safety culture. There’s no magic wand to improve your safety culture overnight. However, you can take action to create a climate that will eventually grow into a truly positive safety culture.
