SafeStart was recently nominated for an Employer Support Award under the Canadian Armed Forces’ Employer Support Awards and Recognition Program. The Employer Support Award is awarded to companies that accommodate their employees with leave for military training and service. The nomination came from Kevin Robertson, a SafeStart account manager for defence and military training. Kevin is also a part-time reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces and a master corporal in the 426th Transport Training Squadron. Reservists balance civilian careers while contributing to the mission of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Kevin has been with SafeStart for the past four years and he became a part-time reservist two years ago. Prior to that, Kevin spent 25 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force until retiring as an aircraft maintenance manager. He has a Canadian Forces Decoration, NATO Service Medal, Gulf and Kuwait Medal, and was awarded the Kuwait Liberation Medal by the government of Kuwait.
The awards are presented in a two-year cycle and they are awarded at provincial and national levels. In 2013 there were 18 businesses that received this award across Canada. All Canadian employers and academic institutions are eligible to be nominated.
We usually measure our success based on our clients’ safety improvement after SafeStart has been implemented, but we are honored and thankful for this nomination. This award nomination is a reflection of our dedication to employees’ personal growth through training and service, and we’re proud of Kevin’s hard work at SafeStart and as a reservist. Thank you Kevin, keep up the great work!
