Wilson Bateman

Wilson has been engaged in the safety field for more than 20 years providing implementation, consulting and auditing services. He is a graduate of the Ryerson Polytechnic University Occupational Health & Safety Certificate Program, and he completed the Humber College Occupational Hygiene and Safety Program with Honours.

He has been employed in many industries including chemical, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and manufacturing, in Canada, United States, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. He has designed training programs for the above mentioned industry groups. Wilson received the Award of Merit in 1999 for outstanding service to the cause of safety on behalf of the Nova Scotia Safety Council. Wilson has written several training programs including a certificate program called the Management Safety Certificate delivered by Global Training Edge Inc. and Safety Services Nova Scotia. He is also the author of 7 Safety Habits That Could Save Your Life; it takes a look at our safety habits on and off the job.

Wilson is an in-demand speaker at numerous conferences and has presented not only on SafeStart but also on a wide range of issues including Behavior Based Safety, Student Worker Orientation, Due Diligence, Internal Responsibility System and Safety Committees. His presentations have been described as thought-provoking, interesting, and informative. He keeps his audience’s attention using actual cases and the proper amount of humor.
